SongFest 2005

Something a bit different for you today. First, it's an elementary school songfest program. You had to order the CD after the program and it arrived by mail a week or two later. There's probably a disc for every year that they've had this program. But, this is the only one that I have...and I have a copy because my daughter was part of the program.

I found a release by Gordon Douglas in the Salvation Army store today and the only reason that I picked it up...besides the fact that it was only a dollar...was because it was a Pennsylvania release. Gordon does christian comedy, which isn't too bad. However, this release comes off more like a church service with a few jokes thrown into the mix. Not really my cup of tea. I used to go to church when I was a kid and this reminds me of the dude who used to teach the Sunday school class. He was supposed to be young and hip and "one of us." It didn't work too well back then and it doesn't work too well right now. I do have to give the guy some credit because he does have his moments and he can be funny when he wants to be. It's worth at least a single listen. That's what I gave it and that's more than enough for me.

Proficy

Proficy is offering his new CD as a free download and permission was given to post it here. I asked him to give me a little write up for the disc and this is what he had to say. "My new CD, "Grim Reaper," is my first work in over five years. It features brand new music and some stuff I actually wrote 10 years ago but just now found the right beat...for example, the title track, "Grim Reaper." The CD features collabs with 7th Layer, PoeticcCc Tha Prophet and many more. The CD is very diverse and there is something for everyone. My influences are everything from Tupac to wicked clowns and underground music. Check out one of the dopest FREE CD's ever!"

I will be the first one to agree with Proficy...this disc is dope. I've been diggin' on it all day. If you're a rap fan, I guarantee that you're gonna dig it as well. Here are the links. Download it and enjoy...and be sure to check out his MySpace page. Leave feedback.

The CPR Band

This was a live show that was recorded by the band for their own use. It wasn't supposed to be a public release.

Here's the cover demo from both Monkey's Uncle and Livewyre. Again, I don't think these were supposed to be a public release.

Finally, I'll end this post with another live show. This one by a band called Loaded Dice. The video of this performance can be found on YouTube. There's an original song or two in this download. The rest are, of course, cover tunes.
